| Kinasource
has just finalised its second year in business.
Axel
Knebel, the director says: “It is an exciting time for
us to start this company from scratch and grow it into an
important research company. We have seen good uptake of our
services during the last two years and expect a further increase
in business for the foreseeable future. Some
of the collaborations with Universities are maturing into
publications now and I think we can expect some strong feedback
from these papers. We will also launch products, timed with
the publication of this research.
Our
customers in the pharmaceutical industry report considerable
progress in their kinase programs, understanding more about
their kinases and developing much better assays, using the
results of our KESTREL screens.
The
business is still based at the University of Dundee, but serves
customers around the world, including some in Sweden and Germany
but also as far as the west coast of the United States. Both
smaller and larger pharmaceutical companies, but also quite
a few Universities are buying services from Kinasource. We
can provide a results report to our customers within minutes
of completion, using the internet as a carrier. Of course,
confidential information is sent by courier rather than the
web.
We
are looking forward to the future and hope to finally get
a foothold in the UK, which is currently a pretty inert market
for Kinasource”
